Kamal Haasan Postpones Audio Launch Of Thug Life Amid Ongoing Tensions Between India And Pakistan: ‘Art Can Wait’

Kamal Haasan has postponed the audio launch of ‘Thug Life’ due to the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan. He released an official statement on social media and said that India comes first for him and his team. The audio launch was supposed to happen on May 16, 2025.

The title of the statement read, “Art can wait. India comes first”. It adds, “In view of the developments at our nation’s border and the current state of heightened alert, we have decided to reschedule the audio launch of Thug Life, originally planned for 16th of May (sic).”

“As our soldiers stand firm on the frontlines with unflinching courage in defence of our motherland, I believe it is a time for quiet solidarity, not celebration. A new date will be announced at a later, more appropriate time (sic),” he added.

He concluded, “At this time, our thoughts are with the brave men and women of our armed forces who stand vigilant, safeguarding our nation. As citizens, it is our duty to respond with restraint and solidarity. Celebration must make way for reflection (sic).”

The movie also stars Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Sanya Malhotra, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf and Vaiyapuri. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the movie is scheduled to release in theatres on June 5, 2025. This is also Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan’s first collaboration after their 1987 film ‘Nayakan’. Thug Life is jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies and Red Giant Movies.

On the work front, Kamal Haasan was last seen in Indian 2, directed by S Shankar.
