After blockbusters like “3 Idiots” and “PK,” superstar Aamir Khan and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani are reportedly set to collaborate on screen once again. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the celebrated duo is in discussions for their third collaboration.
The duo previously delivered two hits, including 3 Idiots in 2009 and PK in 2014, both of which redefined mainstream Bollywood storytelling while shattering box office records.
Pinkvilla quoted a source close to the development that revealed that Hirani had been contemplating three different ideas and has now finalized one “Rajkummar Hirani was toying with 3 ideas, and he has finally decided to move ahead with a subject. He discussed the same with Aamir Khan, and the actor has also loved the world that Raju is developing. The two have principally agreed on the film, with the intent to take it on floors in 2026. The yet-untitled will be Rajkumar Hirani’s next directorial after Dunki.”
The source added that final decisions regarding the project will be made following the release of Aamir’s upcoming film “Sitaare Zameen Par,” which is scheduled to hit theaters on June 20 “It’s a slice-of-life film, with comedy and elements of inspiration. Aamir is kicked about the subject, as it also pushes the actor in him. The other details are kept under wraps. The film is in the forefront, and the final call will be taken post the release of Sitaare Zameen Par,” the source added.
While the final details are under wraps, pre-production in expected to begin in mid 2026.
On the work front, beyond “Sitaare Zameen Par,” the actor is reportedly in talks with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a superhero film expected to go on floors in 2027. Other projects in consideration include a Kishore Kumar biopic and two comedy films with Rajkumar Santoshi.
