What Is Operation Khukri? Randeep Hooda All Set To Star In This Gripping War Drama

Randeep Hooda is gearing up for Operation Khukri, a gripping war drama inspired by a real event. The film tells the untold story of 233 Indian soldiers held hostage by rebel forces in Sierra Leone, West Africa in 2000 with no food, water or backup for 75 days and trapped in enemy territory. Randeep Hooda is all set to play the role of Major General Raj Pal Punia, who played a major role in leading the counterattack to rescue soldiers from the siege.

It is inspired by the bestselling book Operation Khukri, published by Penguin Random House India. The adaptation rights have been acquired by Rahul Mittra Films in collaboration with Randeep Hooda Films.

Talking about the project, Randeep said,  “Operation Khukri is a story that moved me deeply… not just about guns and glory, but about sacrifice, brotherhood and courage. To portray Major General Punia is both an honour and a huge responsibility.”

He further added, “Our aim is to bring to life a chapter of Indian military history that deserves far more recognition, not just for the spectacle, but for the spirit of our soldiers who would rather die than surrender. I believe this story has the power to inspire every Indian.”

The mission began as a peacekeeping effort but soon turned into a tense standoff in the jungles of Kailahun. The film is likely to show the bravery, planning, and the determination behind the mission, however, the makers are yet to announce the key details of the movie, including the director and other cast members.

On the work front, Randeep was last seen in Jaat starring Sunny Deol where he played a Sri Lankan refugee.
