Mannara Chopra bid farewell to her father, Raman Rai Handa, during his last rites held in Mumbai on Wednesday, June 18. Clips from the funeral surfaced online, showing Mannara visibly devasted as she performed the final rituals and her sister Mitali Handa, who was also seen crying inconsolably.
Raman Rai Handa, a senior advocate at the Delhi High Court and was married to Priyanka’s aunt (her father’s sister). He had reportedly been unwell for a few days and breathed his last in Mumbai.
Mannara shared the tragic news through her Instagram Stories, writing, “With profound grief and sorrow we inform the sad demise of our loving father who left us for his heavenly abode on 16/06/2025. He was the pillar of strength for our family.”
Following the news, Mannara returned to Mumbai with her sister, and the two were spotted at the airport looking visibly shaken.
Priyanka Chopra, also expressed her grief on social media. She wrote in her Instagram Story, “You’ll always be in our hearts. Rest easy Raman uncle (fufaji). Om Shanti.”
Meera Chopra, another cousin from the Chopra family, reacted to the news during a public event. Speaking to Instant Bollywood, Meera said, “Yes, I just got to know about the news a few minutes ago when I entered the event. Vicky (Jain) told me about his demise. I knew he was admitted to the hospital, but Vicky shared the news about his demise. He was fine, so I don’t know what exactly happened. I will go after this and find out. It is very sad. I think losing a parent – nothing can be worse than that. I know Mannara, Mitali dono unse bahot close thi. It was a very close-knit family, do betiyan thi and mom and dad. It’s very sad.”
