The makers of the iconic 2002 track Kaanta Laga have announced they will never remake or remix the song again, as a heartfelt tribute to the late Shefali Jariwala.

Directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who launched Shefali with the iconic track announced the decision after attending the actress prayer meet on Wednesday. Taking to their Instagram account, the duo shared an emotional message and a nostalgic poster of Shefali from her photoshoot for the song.

“Yesterday Was The Prayer Meeting. Saying The Final Goodbyes… With Our First Photo Session Together.. ‘Kaanta Laga’ – CD Inlay Card. You Always Said You Wanted To Be The One And Only ‘Kaanta Laga’ Girl. So We Never Made A Sequel — And We Never Will. We’re Retiring ‘Kaanta Laga’ Forever. It Was Always Yours. It Will Always Be Yours… Shefali…RIP…” the caption read.

Shefali Jariwala tragically passed away on June 27 at the age of 42 following a cardiac arrest at her Mumbai residence. According to sources, the actress had been fasting and reportedly took an anti-ageing injection on an empty stomach, which triggered a sudden drop in blood pressure, leading to cardiac arrest. She was declared dead on arrival at Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital.

Her body was shifted to R N Cooper Hospital in Juhu for post-mortem. The police further revealed that the doctor suspected the sudden dip in her blood pressure levels to be the reason for her demise.
