Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu has found himself entangled in a legal controversy involving a real estate scam. The Ranga Reddy District Consumer Commission in Telangana has issued notices to the Guntur Kaaram actor for allegedly endorsing a firm that misled homebuyers, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.
A Hyderabad-based doctor has filed a complaint claiming she was defrauded of Rs 34.8 lakh after investing in plots that turned out to be non-existent. The actor has been named as the third respondent in the case, citing his role in promoting the real estate venture.
This isn’t the first time Mahesh Babu has been linked to controversies involving real estate companies. In April 2024, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned the actor in connection with a money laundering probe involving Sai Surya Developers and Surana Group. He was reportedly paid Rs 5.9 crore as an endorsement fee for promoting the firms.
Mahesh Babu was last seen in the 2024 action-drama Guntur Kaaram, which earned a respectable Rs 126.62 crore at the box office. Up next, the actor is collaborating with SS Rajamouli on a big-budget, pan-India film that also stars Priyanka Chopra. The film is currently in production and is expected to release in 2026 or 2027.
As of now, Mahesh Babu or his representatives have not issued an official statement on the matter.
