The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE)’s arm-twisting tactics to finish off Diljit Dosanjh’s career in the Hindi film industry has been completely nullified.
In a statement a few days ago, the FWICE had claimed they had “lifted” the “ban” on Diljit and “allowed” Diljit to shoot for the war film Border 2 after the film’s producer Bhushan Kumar “pleaded” to exempt Border 2 from the ban. The FWICE also claimed that Bhushan Kumar of T Series had “pledged” to not work with Diljit in the future.
However, a source very close to Bhushan Kumar on condition of anonymity revealed shocking details of the FWICE’s lies. “There has never been any interaction between Bhushan Kumar and the FWICE. Where is the question of his pleading for the completion of Border 2? Almost fifty percent of the film is complete. There is no question of dropping Diljit from Border 2 or banning him in future projects. In fact T Series is planning several projects with Diljit.”
This brings us to the crucial question that needs to be asked: who decides the volume of patriotism of any individual?
In a conversation I had with Diljit some time ago, he had reiterated his stand on the issue. “My Indianness is not questionable or negotiable. Those who want to create irrelevant controversies are welcome to do so.”
