The entertainment industry in Pakistan was left in shock as the decomposed body of Humaira Asghar Alia rising actress, model, and multi talented artist was discovered in her Karachi apartment on Tuesday, July 8.
The 32-year-old, who lived alone in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase VI, had reportedly passed away almost two weeks prior, but her death remained unnoticed until a court ordered police inspection led to the heartbreaking discovery. Police said her landlord, troubled by months of unpaid rent and no contact, sought eviction orders, which resulted in officers breaking into her locked flat.
Who Was Humaira Asghar Ali?
Humaira was not just a popular face on social media, but also was a versatile performer and an artist. With over 715k followers on Instagram, she presented herself as not only an actress and model, but also a theatre artist, painter, sculptor, and fitness enthusiast.
Humaira had acted in the 2015 Pakistani film Jalaibee and had participated in the reality show Tamasha Ghar on ARY.
Her Instagram account was inactive since September 2024.
What Do We Know About Her Death?
According to police, the apartment was locked from the inside, “The apartment was locked from the inside, including the balcony door,” confirmed South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza in a statement to Pakistani news portal Images. Police said there were no immediate signs of foul play at the scene. Forensic teams were called in, and Humaira’s body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).
Dr. Summaiya Syed, police surgeon at JPMC, confirmed that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, and the exact cause of death is currently “reserved” pending further examination.
Reports suggest that Humaira had been living alone and largely out of touch, leading to speculation that her death went unnoticed for nearly two weeks. Authorities are currently using mobile records to try and locate her relatives.
