Trade Talk: Bollywood Gets Its Second Blockbuster Of 2025; Mahesh Bhatt Can’t Stop Preening About His Protégé
The opening box office figures of Yash Raj Films’ Saiyaara have gone through the roof, thanks to the masterly marketing by producer Aditya Chopra. The romantic medical melodrama (inspired by the Korean Film A Moment To Remember) with no major stars (in fact, the supporting cast is unknown to the public as no Wikipedia page was created to avoid exposure of the film’s Korean connection) and mediocre music, has collected around Rs 20 crores on the first day.
Bihar’s leading film exhibitor Roshan Singh says Saiyaara shows the way for the crisis-ridden Hindi film industry. “Aditya Chopra did a very clever thing. He kept the film’s lead pair out of media interactions. The audience was curious to see the two newcomers, Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, and they didn’t disappoint.”
Singh says Saiyaara has attracted a section of the audience that normally stays away from cinemas. “The Muslim audience is flocking for this film. It could be the Urdu title.”
