Bhupendra Patel Takes Oath As 17th Gujarat CM

Bhupendra Patel was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Gujarat on Monday in the presence of BJP leader Amit Shah, chief ministers of three BJP-ruled states and Union ministers.
Patel was chosen by the party high command following Vijay Rupani’s resignation after completing five years in office. Rupani, former deputy chief minister Nitin Patel and former ministers Bhupendrasinh Chudasma and Pradeepsinh Jadeja were present at the event.
Chief Minister of Goa Pramod Sawant, MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar were present on the occasion along with central ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and Purusottam Rupala.
The new CM started his day by calling on Rupani and Nitin Patel before the swearing-in ceremony.

He then went to the CM’s bungalow where he met Shah before proceeding to Raj Bhavan for the ceremony.
Soon after Patel took oath, PM Narendra Modi congratulated him for taking over as the CM. PM Modi tweeted, “Congratulations to Bhupendra Bhai on taking oath as CM of Gujarat. I have known him for years and have seen his exemplary work, be it in the BJP organisation or in civic administration and community service. He will certainly enrich Gujarat’s growth trajectory.”
After becoming CM, he assumed charge at Swarnim Sankul and called a high-level meeting to take stock of the situation in Rajkot and Jamnagar which have been affected by heavy rains. He spoke to Jamnagar Collector and instructed him to carry out rescue operations and help affected people. He directed the Rajkot Municipal Commissioner and Collector to shift affected people to safe places due to rising water level in Aji dam. About 1,155 people were shifted to safer places.
The CM also sought deployment of two NDRF teams for Jamnagar and three in Rajkot for rescue operations.

Modi acknowledges Rupani’s work

Narendra Modi tweeted “During his five years as CM, Vijay Rupaniji has undertaken many people-friendly measures. He worked tirelessly for all sections of society. I am certain he will contribute to public service in the times to come.
