When Is the Best Time For Sex? Insights From Ayurveda

People often avoid discussing sex and sexual health, but did you know that it is considered one of the three pillars of Ayurveda, which can nourish our body and help balance the doshas? Here, we discuss the best time for sex according to Ayurveda and share Ayurvedic tips for optimal sexual health.

According to Ayurveda, the best times for sexual activity are during the winter and spring seasons. In contrast, sexual activity tends to decrease during the summer and monsoon seasons, as these periods see an increase in pitta and vata doshas, which can reduce fertility.

Reports suggest that during the winter season, it is ideal to have daily sexual activity with your partner. In spring and autumn, having sex once every three days is recommended, while during the monsoon and summer seasons, it is advised to engage in sexual activity once every two weeks.

According to Ayurveda, the best time for sex is during the day and after sunrise. Ayurveda considers nighttime sexual activity to be less ideal.

For better sexual health according to Ayurveda, include herbs such as gokshura, shilajit, shatavari, and saffron in your diet. To balance the aggravated vata dosha after sex, it is recommended to perform an oil massage before bathing.
