Vishu is a grand festival celebrated every year in Kerala to mark the first day of the Malayali New Year. The day of Vishu is celebrated alongside a number of other regional New Years’ celebrated throughout India, like Poila Boishakh in West Bengal and Baisakhi in Punjab.
This makes every New Year an exciting and culturally rich period throughout the country. Vishu takes place on the first day of the month of Malayalam called Chingam. On Vishu, it’s common for people to wear new clothes, have flower or rangoli designs in the home, and eat Vishu-specific food together with family members and friends.
This year, Vishu will be celebrated on April 14. As we prepare to celebrate the special day, we have put together a collection of wishes, pictures, and messages you can share with your family and friends on the special day of Malayalam New Year.
