Prawn biryani is an indian dish where the fragrant basmati rice is infused with prawns, spices and herbs. This dish is the perfect combination of flavours that makes it favourite among seafood and biryani enthusiasts
Ingredients
- Prawns (500g)
- Basmati rice (2 cups)
- yogurt (1/2 cup)
- onions (2 medium)
- chopped tomatoes (2 medium)
- garlic paste (1 tbsp)
- ginger paste (1 tbsp)
- green chillies (2)
- saffron strands
- and warm milk (1/4 cup).
Step By Step Guide
Marinate the prawns
Before marinating, make sure the prawns are cleaned properly after that mix with 1/2 cup of yogurt, 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste, 1/2 tbsp turmeric and red chilli powder and salt to taste, keep it aside for 20-30 minutes.
Cook The Rice
Rinse and soak 2 cups of basmati rice for 30 minutes. Bring water to boil and add prawns along with all the spices, add the soaked rice and cook until it is 70% done.
Prepare The Masala
Heat 3-4 tbsp ghee/oil in a pan along with 2 finely chopped onions until it becomes golden brown the add 2 chopped tomatoes, green chillies and the marinated prawns cook until the masala thickens then add a chopped mint or coriander leaves.
Assemble And Cook
In a large pot, layer the prawn masala and half of the cooked rice. Repeat the layers and pour a tbsp of saffron milk. Cover the pot with a lid and let the biryani cook for 20 minutes on low heat.
Garnish And Serve
Add the fried onions and coriander on top of the biryani then delicately stir the delicious prawn biryani and platter it with raita and fresh salad.
