Lauki, also known as bottle gourd, is said to be one of the best sources of nutrients. It is rich in potassium, antioxidants, and vitamin C, all of which provide you with various health benefits. With its high water content and low calorie count, Lauki is suitable for staying hydrated and managing overall weight. Here’s the step-by-step guide to the recipe for lauki ka halwa.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp of Ghee
- 1 cup of almond milk (or ½ cup mawa/khoya for richer flavor)
- ¼ tsp cardamom powder
- Chopped dry fruits (almonds
- cashews
- pistachios – optional)
- 2 cups grated lauki (bottle gourd)
- 4 tbsp of sugar (adjust to taste)
Step By Step Guide
Grate The Lauki (Bottle Gourd)
First, take a vegetable peeler to remove the green skin and finely grate the lauki. It helps make the lauki tender. After that, squeeze out the excess water.
Heat The Non-Stick Pan
Secondly, take a non-stick pan and heat it over a medium flame. Heat desi ghee in the pan. Then add the grated lauki and saute for about 4-5 minutes.
Pour The Milk
In the next stage, add almond milk in the pan and cook the lauki on medium heat until it softens. Keep stirring until the texture becomes thick.
Add In Sugar
After completing the above mentioned steps, add the sugar and mix well until it blends and releases a rich, aromatic flavour.
Add Other Ingredients And Mix Well
Moving on to the last step, mix in the cardamom powder and cook until the halwa thickens and starts separating from the pan.
Garnish And Serve
Relish the goodness of Lauki like never before. The perfect appetizer is now ready. Garnish the dish with dry fruits (almonds, raisins, and nuts). Serve warm. Enjoy!
