He also mentioned a guy who consumed a large amount of chia seeds, which later on got stuck in his esophagus. When eaten dry and followed by water, this swelling can occur mid-swallow, blocking the esophagus. And because of this, the guy rushed to the hospital, where the doctors successfully removed the chia seeds after several hours.
