The arrival of Lord Ganesha was celebrated on Ganesh Chaturthi, which was observed on August 27 with much celebration and pomp. However, Ganeshotsav does not end on that very day; it continues until Anant Chaturdashi. This year, Anant Chaturdashi is being observed on September 6. This is also the same day that the Visarjan (idol immersion) of Lord Ganesha will happen.

Ganesh Visarjan must be done according to process and by following the Visarjan vidhi and chanting the Visarjan mantra. Read on to learn about the Ganesh Visarjan vidhi and mantra.

Ganesh Visarjan vidhi

1. Before saying goodbye to lord Ganesha you have to worship him.

2. You may use modaks and fruits for offering.

3. You may perform aarti of lord ganesh.

4. Once puja is completed you will take lord Ganesha idol from the puja place.

5. You will keep pink or yellow colour cloth on wooden plank and you will keep idol on it.

6. You will keep some fruits and flowers, clothes and modaks with lord ganesha idol.

7. You may keep some coins, rice wheat and dry fruits in a bundle.

8. You should keep this bundle along with Ganesha idol.

9. Then immerse the lord’s idol into the flowing water.

10. Your worship should also be good with your family, before immersing you may have the last aarti performed.

11. After that you pray Ganpati bappa that you will come back next year.

1. Om yantu devganah sarve pooja madaya mamkeem Ishtakam samriddhyartham punar api punar aagmanaya cha.
