His sudden demise also shocked the people who followed him for fitness. He was well recognised for being Indian bodybuilding world’s first vegetarian professional champion.

According to reports, he was being treated for a bicep injury and was supposed to go through a standard surgical procedure. Later, the actor suffered a fatal cardiac arrest, resulting in heart failure. The cases of sudden cardiac arrests in young people have increased over the years, even though people have tried to maintain their healthy lifestyles. Know what causes these sudden cardiac arrests and their symptoms.

Symptoms:

Sudden cardiac arrest happens when the heart suddenly stops beating, leading to the stoppage of blood flow to the brain and other organs. According to the website MedlinePlus, symptoms of sudden cardiac arrest may include loss of consciousness, feeling dizzy, a racing heartbeat or feeling lightheaded before fainting. Some people might experience chest pain, nausea or vomiting, or shortness of breath in the hour before sudden cardiac arrest.

Causes:

MedlinePlus further reports that sudden cardiac arrest can be caused when there is some type of physical stress, which can cause your heart’s electrical system to fail. The intense physical activity releases the hormone adrenaline, which can possibly trigger sudden cardiac arrest in people who have heart problems.

Other causes include Ventricular fibrillation, in which the heart’s lower chambers don’t beat normally. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is also one of the reasons for sudden cardiac arrest and happens when the arteries of the heart cannot deliver enough oxygen-rich blood to the heart.

How to prevent:

Controlling the blood pressure, keeping cholesterol levels in check, staying at a healthy weight, getting regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, not smoking or drinking alcohol, getting good sleep, and managing diabetes are some of the factors which can help you prevent sudden cardiac arrest.
