Utpanna Ekadashi Vrat 2025: Ekadashi fasts are considered one of the most powerful ways to receive the blessings of Lord Vishnu. Ekadashi comes twice every lunar month, making a total of twenty-four Ekadashis in a year. In Sanatan Dharma, Ekadashi is believed to be a sacred day dedicated to Lord Hari (Vishnu). Observing a fast on this day is said to bring the divine grace of Lakshmi-Narayana.
According to the Hindu calendar, Utpanna Ekadashi also known as Utpatthi Ekadashi, falls on the Krishna Paksha of the Margashirsha month. It is the first Ekadashi that comes after Kartik Purnima.
As per religious beliefs, this day is dedicated to Maa Ekadashi. The story says that when the demon Mura tried to attack Lord Vishnu while he was resting, a divine goddess emerged from Vishnu’s energy and destroyed the demon. This goddess later came to be known as Maa Ekadashi. Utpanna Ekadashi is observed every year to remember her appearance.
Fasting on this holy day is believed to free devotees from sins, bring mental peace, and grant the special blessings of Lord Vishnu.
