Arunachal Pradesh confirms its 1st coronavirus case; India tally crosses 2100

More than 450 fresh cases of coronavirus infection were reported of Wednesday as the country witnessed a massive spike in the confirmed cases tally.  The death toll has crossed 60 with three new deaths reported on Thursday morning.

So far, 175 people have recovered from the pandemic and released from hospitals across the country.

Health Ministry officials the spike in cases was largely due to Tablighi Jamaat congregation, which took place in mid-March, and therefore technically it does not show a national trend.

They urged people to follow guidelines during lockdown period and avoid congregations, including religious gatherings.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi were among the places to report a large number of new cases.
