New Delhi: A major controversy broke out on Wednesday over Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s alleged gesture of “flying kiss” while leaving the Parliament after finishing his speech in Lok Sabha.
Union minister and BJP MP Smriti Irani slammed the Congress MP for his ‘indecent gesture’ and sought an apology from him.
“The one who got the right to speak (in Lok Sabha) before me, he showed an indecent sign while leaving the House. It is only a ‘misogynistic man’ who can give a flying kiss to the Parliament, which seats female MPs,” said BJP MP Smriti Irani while speaking in Lok Sabha.

A group of 22 women MPs from the ruling party also met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and submitted a complaint against the Gandhi scion.
“Parliament is the temple of democracy. When PM Modi enters the building he bows down in respect. But Rahul Gandhi has insulted this place with his indecent gesture. We have met the Speaker and apprised him about the incident,” said Union minister Darshana Jardosh.
The MPs also appealed the Speaker to get CCTV footage of the incident and take appropriate action against Rahul Gandhi.
Earlier, on the second day of the ongoing debate over Opposition’s no-confidence motion, Rahul Gandhi questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Manipur even as the state continues to witness violence for the last three months.
Terming it as a murder of ‘Bharat Mata’, the Waynad MP claimed that Manipur has been divided into two parts after the recent incidents.
A similar controversy broke out in 2018, when Rahul Gandhi hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Parliament. Gandhi was also seen winking at his fellow party MPs after hugging the PM.
