Pawan Kalyan Seeks Deputy Chief Minister Position In Andhra

Actor-turned politician Pawan Kalyan is reportedly aiming to become the Deputy Chief Minister in the Andhra Pradesh cabinet, according to sources. Additionally, he is seeking five cabinet positions for his party, as Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu is set to be sworn in as Chief Minister on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Janasena party MLAs elected their party chief Pawan Kalyan as the floor leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

The decision was made ahead of the NDA legislators’ meeting to elect TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu as their leader in the House. According to party sources, Janasena Tenali legislator N. Manohar proposed Pawan Kalyan’s name as the floor leader in the Assembly, a motion that received unanimous support from other members.

Pawan Kalyan secured victory in the Pithapuram Assembly seat, defeating his YSR Congress Party rival Vanga Geetha by a substantial margin of over 70,000 votes. Janasena holds 21 seats in the 175-member House.

The NDA achieved a sweeping victory in Andhra Pradesh, clinching a majority with 164 Assembly seats (TDP-135, Janasena-21, and BJP-8).
