US Woman’s ₹6 Crore Fraud

Scam in Jaipur, where a shopkeeper deceived a US national into buying counterfeit jewelry worth Rs 300 for Rs 6 crore. The investigation into the matter began after authorities intervened.

When Cherish returned to Jaipur to confront the shop owners, Rajendra Soni and his son Gaurav, who sold her the fake jewelry, they ignored her complaints and dismissed the allegations.

Cherish later filed an FIR against the shop owners at the Manak Chowk police station. In retaliation, the shop owners filed a false case against her.

Distressed by the developments, Cherish sought help from the US Embassy. With their involvement, the Jaipur Police began investigating and confirmed that the jewelry was indeed fake.

While the shop owner and his son are currently on the run, the police have arrested the individual who issued the fake certificate for the jewelry. A special team of Jaipur police has been formed to apprehend them.

The preliminary probe by the police revealed that the shop owners recently bought an apartment worth Rs 3 crore.

“According to investigations, the accused sold silver jewelry with gold polish, valued at Rs 300, to the foreigner for Rs 6 crore and furnished her with a fake certificate of authenticity. Nand Kishore, the person who issued the fake certificate, has been arrested, while authorities continue to search for the absconding father and son,” stated Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police North, Bajrang Singh Shekhawat.
