Shiv Sena Removes Father of Mumbai Hit-and-Run Accused

On Wednesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena removed Rajesh Shah as deputy leader amid controversy over his son Mihir Shah’s alleged involvement in a fatal Mumbai hit-and-run case. This action follows Rajesh Shah’s recent arrest and release on bail.

Mihir Shah, 24, was arrested on Tuesday at a resort in Virar after evading capture for three days. He is accused of driving a BMW that struck a scooter, resulting in the death of a 45-year-old woman and injuries to her husband.

Police sources revealed that Mihir admitted to swapping seats with his driver and driving during the accident. He also confessed to fleeing the scene and trying to disguise himself by shaving his beard.

Rajesh Shah, a close aide of Eknath Shinde, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the case. Police allege he helped his son escape and instructed the family’s driver to take the blame. Rajesh Shah is accused of providing misinformation and destroying evidence.

Mihir Shah has been charged with culpable homicide and will be presented in court today. Police will request his custody for further investigation.

The hit-and-run incident has sparked outrage, with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde pledging strict action against those involved, regardless of their social status or political connections.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken action against the Juhu bar where Mihir Shah partied before the accident by demolishing an illegally constructed portion of the pub.
