‘He Is Not God’, Arvind Kejriwal Criticizes PM Modi

AAP leader and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal spoke at the Delhi Assembly on Thursday, marking his first address since resigning from his post. During his speech, he criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that while Modi is powerful, he is not a god.

Kejriwal’s Remarks on Power and Justice

Kejriwal acknowledged the sadness of opposition members over his and Manish Sisodia’s presence in the Assembly. He stated, “PM Modi is very powerful and has many resources, but he is not God. The true God is with us.” He also thanked the Supreme Court for their support.

Road Conditions and Political Struggles

He mentioned a recent inspection of roads in Delhi, expressing concern about their condition. “Before I went to jail, Delhi University’s roads were great. I’ve asked the Chief Minister to order repairs,” he said. Kejriwal recounted a conversation with a BJP leader who indicated that sending him to jail was an attempt to derail the Delhi government.

Resignation on Moral Grounds

Kejriwal emphasized that nobody in Delhi perceives him as dishonest. Instead, he stated that people believe he was wrongfully trapped in fabricated cases. He resigned “on moral grounds,” asserting that even the arrogance of figures like Ravana could not endure.

Upcoming Elections and Assembly Strength

Kejriwal expressed confidence that the people of Delhi would respond to the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections. Currently, the strength of the 70-member Delhi Assembly has decreased to 66, with AAP holding 59 seats and BJP seven.

Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel announced the resignations and disqualifications of four MLAs during the session, including three from AAP. Former Opposition Leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri resigned after becoming a Lok Sabha MP, while AAP MLA Rajendra Pal Gautam’s resignation was accepted. Two AAP MLAs, Raaj Kumar Anand and Kartar Singh, were disqualified from the Assembly earlier this year.
