Teacher Stabbed To Death By Boyfriend On School Premises – Why Did He Kill Her? News24 –

Tamil Nadu: In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old woman has been stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. The woman taught in a school and was killed on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred on the school premises. The man identified as Madan, attacked her outside the staff room, after she refused to marry him without parent’s permission.

What Did The Police Say?

The police stated that they both were in relationship and faced opposition from the woman’s family. Their relationship strained after the woman refused to marry him. She was stabbed on neck by Madan around 10 am after a heated argument. Reportedly, he had reached the school to talk to her, but the woman refused. This led to heated argument between them and Madan took out knife, stabbed her on the neck and fled the spot. She was rushed to hospital but succumbed to injuries on the way. He was arrested shortly after the incident.

They both were native of Chinnamanai village. Their families had met a few days ago and Madan’s parent had expressed desire to get them married. However, the woman’s parents were not interested, added the police.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin expressed condolence and announced financial assistance to the family of the teacher who was stabbed to death in Pattukottai, Mallipatnam Government High School, Thanjavur District.

Education Minister Calls For Enhanced Safety Measures

Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh has directed the district administration to pay attention to the safety at school.

He wrote on X, “We met the fellow teachers who worked with teacher Ramani and expressed our condolences. We have directed the district administration to provide appropriate counseling and pay more attention to the safety of the school to relieve the stress of the teachers.”

Opposition Attacks Tamil Nadu Govt

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami called the news shocking and wrote on X, “The news is shocking that a teacher Ramani has been stabbed to death in Mallipatnam Government High School, Thanjavur district. My deepest condolences to family.” He added, “The incompetent DMK government has failed to maintain law and order to such an extent that murders are commonplace under the Vidya DMK regime.”

Palaniswami further said, “I strongly condemn the Vidya DMK government for disrupting law and order to the extent that government employees including government school teachers and government doctors are not even protected in government-owned places where they work.”
