Bengaluru Airport Eastern Connectivity Tunnel To Ease Traffic, Cut Travel Time By 30 Minutes; Deets Inside News24 –
The Bengaluru International Airport Limited is preparing to build an Eastern connectivity tunnel to connect the eastern area of the airport. The project is planned with the aim to enhance the accessibility for passengers. It will make the travel easier for the commuters travelling from Mahadevapura, Sarjapur Whitefield and other regions of the east Bengaluru.
The tunnel will be directly connecting the eastern part of Bengaluru to the airport. The project is planned to reduce the traffic. It will reduce traffic congestion and cut the travel time about 30 minute.
The tunnel is the part of BIAL’s Rs 16,500 crore expansion plan to boost and help the aviation section.
As per the airport authorities, the proposal for the four lane 2.5-km long tunnel has already been submitted to the Karnataka government.
Apart from this, Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) is working on two new metro stations and making of Terminal 3 to deal with the passenger traffic. BIAL is working for the development of Terminal 3 to deal with the growing passenger traffic.
Currently the kempegowda international airport have two terminals and operates in two runways.
According to reports by Indian Express, the airport will reach operational capacity of 85 million passengers by 2030-32. Build-up of Terminal 3 will have 25-30 million passengers on annual basis to the airport.
According to CEO of BIAL, Hari Marar, the tunnel will help to deal with the traffic flow. The tunnel will become the reliable route for the airport, as reported by Indian Express.
