Uttar Pradesh: A massive fire broke out at the vehicle parking stand of Varanasi Cantt railway station late at night on Friday, officials said. More than 150 two-wheelers were left charred by the blaze. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the tragic incident, authorities said.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and the fire department immediately reached the spot to control the massive fire which erupted close to the parking zone beside Platform 1.
Though the blaze was brought under control, it had already caused significant destruction of motorcycles and scooters, officials said.

Speaking on the incident, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Lalji Chaudhary confirmed that the parking stand was primarily reserved for railway employees. “Much damage has been caused, but fortunately, there has been no loss of life,” he said.
According to reports, a committee has been set up to investigate the cause of the fire.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was caused due to a short circuit.
“Some cycles have been burnt too. The fire was caused due to a short circuit. We are conducting further probe into the matter,” CO GRP Kunwar Bahadur Singh said. More details on the case are awaited.
In a separate incident, a fire broke out in a foam and furniture factory in Shakti Nagar Dhal yesterday in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
