New Deadline Extends Beyond Maha Kumbh 2025! Project Facing Delays Due To…

The 594 kilometer long Ganga Expressway, an important project in Uttar Pradesh, is facing delays because of restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP 4) in areas like Meerut, Hapur, and Bulandshahr in the Delhi-NCR region.

The expressway was originally set to open by December 18, 2024, but it is now expected to be finished by March or April 2025.

The Expressway will connect eastern and western Uttar Pradesh, linking Meerut to Prayagraj. Although a lot of work has been done—92% of the landwork and 98% of the structure work are complete—only 71% of the overall construction is finished. This delay means it won’t be ready in time for the upcoming Maha Kumbh.

One key feature of the expressway is that it crosses the Agra-Moradabad National Highway near Laharvan village in Sambhal district. Also, two overbridges are being built—one over the Aligarh-Bareilly railway track and another for better road connections. These overbridges are almost complete.

Once the expressway is open, it is expected to improve regional development, reduce travel time, and make road travel easier across Uttar Pradesh. However, commuters will need to wait until 2025 for the full completion.
