AIMIM Shocks Rivals In Delhi Elections
The AIMIM sent shock waves after both of its candidates in the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 proved themselves the most important deciding factors.
AIMIM’s Okhla candidate Shifa Ur Rehman Khan, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail, secured 39,558 votes. He polled more votes than the victory margin of AAP.
AAP candidate Amanatullah Khan won with a margin of 23,639 votes.
Manish Chaudhary of the BJP came second as he secured 65,304 votes.
AIMIM candidate from Mustafabad Tahir Hussain garnered 33,474 votes, while BJP candidate Mohan Singh Bisht defeated AAP candidate Adeel Ahmad Khan by a margin of 17,578 votes.
Both Shifa Ur Rehman Khan and Tahir Hussain were important as they were arrested for their alleged role in the Delhi riots in 2020.
They were released on interim bail for campaigning for Delhi Elections.
Will AIMIM Contest West Bengal Elections?
With this background, Asaduddin Owaisi may visit West Bengal and field candidates for the assembly elections.
Earlier in the assembly elections held in 2021, he created flutters by visiting the capital Kolkata and many other cities, including the Muslim-dominated areas of South Bengal.
He raised the issue of the Muslims in the state. He questioned why the Muslims have only 6% presence in the goverment jobs in the state, that had been ruled by the Left Front and the TMC for more than four decades.
Asaduddin Creates Flutters In West Bengal
Similarly, he made the poor economic conditions and dismal educational standard of the Muslim subjects of his attack on the Mamata Banerjee government.
Soon, there a wave in his support rose and thousands of TMC supporters joined the AIMIM.
As before, Asaduddin Owaisi was accused of trying to help the BJP by dividing the Muslim votes.
Muslims constitute about 30% of the population if the state. There are more than 100 seats, where Muslims can play important roles in deciding the fate of candidates in the 294-member assembly.
Will the AIMIM pose a threat to the TMC this time?
