The government of Bihar is currently implementing projects to improve road travel convenience. The state government has authorized the route planning for the construction of the Patna-Purnia Expressway and the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway. Additionally, the government aims to secure approval for the Raxaul-Haldia route in the coming month. A detailed project report for the Buxar-Bhagalpur via Lakhisarai Expressway is being prepared following its announcement in the Union Budget speech and will be ready soon, as reported by Times Now.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, revealed that traveling to Patna from any part of the state currently takes around five hours. However, state authorities are now working to reduce this travel time to three hours. He emphasized that his team is committed to achieving this goal by 2027.
The construction of a 662 km expressway is currently underway in Bihar, with active land acquisition processes in progress. These projects require an investment of over Rs 55,500 crore. Additionally, the construction of two expressways covering 607 km is estimated to cost Rs 41,760 crore. In total, groundwork has begun for four expressway projects in Bihar.
The expressway development, along with other infrastructure projects, will involve an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore to achieve the goal of a ‘Developed Bihar.’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided significant support to Bihar, with expressway openings expected to generate job opportunities in hotels, dhabas, and other business sectors.
The expansion of religious tourism in the state is dependent on the Central Government’s approval of the ‘Pashupati Baidyanath Corridor’ and the ‘Narayani Corridor,’ which are expected to receive necessary authorizations soon. Additionally, the upcoming development plans include the construction of two major bridges across the Kosi River.
