In a shocking incident, three migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh were burnt to death in Delhi’s Anand Vihar area. The incident happened when the tent in which they were sleeping caught fire.
The police registered a case causing death due to negligence. The workers were engaged in a contract for Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL). The deceased were identified as Kanta Kumar, Jaggi, and Shyam Singh.
According to reports, the victims were living in a temporary arrangement under a tent near the DDA plot in Manglam Road. The fire department said that they received an alert of fire at 2:22 am. A fire officer said three fire tenders were rushed to the spot and that they brought the fire under control at 2:50 am.
The police said one labourer managed to escape the fire, but the three failed to exit the tent.
The initial probe suggested that a lamp used to light the tent was the case and later a gas cylinder also burst.
A senior police officer said that the bodies were sent for postmortem and statements of the labourer and the victim‘s father were recorded.
