Noida International Airport Latest Update (Junaid Akhtar) A major announcement emerges regarding the development of Noida International Airport. Official information shows the airport will not begin operation during April. Official sources indicated the airport will achieve completion by 30 April before further required work takes place. Subsequent work requirements will start following these necessary operations.
The operation period from 10 May will require additional time until the next stated date. The airport is projected to start its flight operations from between 15 and 20 May according to multiple sources. Internal doubts exist within the officials regarding this target date. The Noida Airport will face obstacles to commence even by May codes and should launch passenger services during the first week of June based on official statements
Operational Delays And Staff Efforts
Operational staff at Noida International Airport had planned April launches for flight operations. The airport staff continue their work exhaustively. The project will fail to reach completion before 30 April regardless of existing efforts. The officials currently focus on launching the airport in May. At present, the Yamuna Authority CEO along with other officials refuse to comment on the situation.
Multiple sources highlighted that the authorities received directions to finish airport construction before April ended. The officials have chosen to remain silent after work failed to finish because of an unknown reason. Official sources indicate May will be dedicated to final work completion along with necessary documentation, which will take the entire month for completion. Operational flights will commence at the airport during June following the completion works.
Inspection And Pending Tasks
The inspection team from Noida International Airport Limited found CAT Nine components, bomb prevention measures, and isolated parking space, among other items, to be finished. The entire project received favorable inspection results, but international terminal development in the terminal building remains unfinished. End of March will bring the installation completion date of ANS navigation equipment for air flow direction guidance.
Flight services at the airport will start in April after obtaining the aerodrome license. The completion date for Noida Airport flight services has been set for April 30 this year. The whole execution of this work will require ongoing operations throughout the month of May. For air operations at the facility, both an operating license and permission from the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) are necessary. The aerodrome license will be released sometime between April 30 according to reports but sources indicate its availability on or after May 20.
Financial Penalties Due to Delay
The extended timeframe until the Noida airport starts its operations will generate financial losses for Tata Construction Company. A financial penalty will probably affect the Tata projects that are handling the airport construction work. The construction company must absorb penalties reaching 3 crore rupees monthly based on the signed contract in case work progress falls behind schedule. Such enforcement will definitely come into effect against Tata.
Previous penalties have already been imposed on Tata. The financial problems caused by this delay harm small companies which built parts of the airport terminus while increasing their existing financial difficulties. The mentioned sources report that these companies experience monthly financial losses ranging from 10 to 15 lakh rupees.
Runway And ATC Tower Completed; Terminal Pending
The Noida Airport runway constructions and Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower reach completion while terminal development remains substantial. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Zurich Airport Kevin Fleck announced during a March 7 interview that construction will accelerate over the following two to five months.
The terminal completion work requires another one and a half to two months before its finalization. The airport opening scheduled for April no longer persists. The datebook continues to indicate that flights will commence their operations in May. The initial projection about the opening does not show signs of surviving. The construction of Noida Airport is scheduled to finalize its completion by the month of May. The beginning of airline operations is scheduled to occur in June.
Initial And Revised Deadlines
Noida Airport received its first operational deadline for October 2024. Following those announcements, the company had planned its inaugural operations for April 2024. The approaching month of April brings the flights at Noida Airport one step closer to operation. The current month of April approaches yet the airport remains unprepared for operational readiness. The facility succeeded in landing aircraft during December 2024. Officials state that the airport will begin operating flights next month in May. According to current information, the flight operations will begin later than initially declared.
Future Passenger Traffic And Development Plans
The new airport will process between 1 and 1.5 million passengers during 2025 while expecting 8 million passengers when it reaches its full capacity in 2026. The initial project phase will operate at 12 million passenger annual capacity which will expand until it reaches 70 million capacity at its final stage.
The total development cost of Rs 30,000 crore will fund the entire project according to estimated figures. Noida International Airport will enhance North Indian air traffic and distribute some of the flight volume from Indira Gandhi International Airport. The postponed opening remains scheduled to build a mass international hub with contemporary features. The project’s builders anticipate building speed will grow during the next few months that will lead to its final development.
