Haridwar, 13th March: Patanjali University organised a special ‘Holikotsav’ Yajna and Flower Holi’ celebration at its sports ground on the auspicious occasion of Holi. The event was conducted under the guidance of the university’s Chancellor, Swami Ramdev, and Vice-Chancellor, Acharya Balkrishna. During the celebration, the Patanjali family played Holi with flowers and celebrated the festival in a traditional and spiritual manner.

Swami Ramdev Extends Wishes

Swami Ramdev extended his warm wishes to all the citizens of India, offering them his blessings for a prosperous new harvest. He emphasized that Holi is not just a festival of colours and joy, but also a symbol of social harmony, love, brotherhood, and the victory of good over evil. He urged the gathering to pledge on this Holi that we would stay true to our path of righteousness and not let negative emotions like self-guilt, forgetfulness, or self-obsession affect us. Swami Ramdev reiterated that every festival in the Sanatan culture should be celebrated with yoga and yajna, which are the vital and spiritual elements of the culture. He also urged the people to celebrate Holi with unity, without letting intoxicants like bhang or alcohol disrupt the harmony of the festival, stressing that it could be harmful to society.

Acharya Balkrishna, speaking on the occasion, highlighted that Holi is a festival of surrendering one’s ego. It is a time to burn away the negative emotions inside us, just like the demon Hiranyakashyap was burned in Holika’s fire. He encouraged everyone to celebrate Holi by setting aside differences and embracing the colours of brotherhood. He also called on the people to celebrate Holi with purity and virtue, advising against the use of chemical-based colours, which could cause harm to the skin and eyes. He recommended using only natural flower petals and herbal colours to celebrate the festival in an environmentally friendly manner. He also suggested applying mustard oil, coconut oil, or cold cream on exposed body parts before playing Holi to protect the skin from harmful chemicals.

The event saw the presence of Patanjali University’s officials, staff, along with heads of affiliated institutions, department heads, faculty members, students, employees, sanyasis, and sadhvis. The Holiotsav Yajna and the flower Holi celebration were a perfect blend of tradition, spirituality, and environmental consciousness, making it a memorable and meaningful celebration for all involved.
