Five Injured As Man Assaults Pilgrims With Iron Pipes Inside Amritsar’s Golden Temple News24 –


Four people sustained grievous injuries after a man allegedly attacked people with iron pipes inside the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Friday, said police, adding one injured who is admitted to the ICU is informed to be in critical condition. Police said that the suspect has been identified as Zulfan. He was arrested and handed over to police.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) delivered Zulfan to police authorities. A conflict erupted within the Golden Temple complex leading to injuries among both sides of the participants. Workers employed by SGPC sustained injuries during the incident. Kotwali SHO Sarmel Singh declared that legal action will proceed based on the law.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) operates Guru Ramdas Hospital in Amritsar where the injured patients received treatment.

The patients told us that an unidentified attacker struck them with a rod according to their statements. We received five patients from the incident with one patient in critical condition currently in the ICU. He has been given stitches. The patient will receive CT Scan testing after achieving stability. Dr. Jasmeet Singh informed ANI that the remaining four patients are currently stable while one patient remains serious.

Former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal escaped an assassination attempt during sewa (service) at the Golden Temple in December 2019 to atone for his mistakes during the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) government’s rule in Punjab from 2007 to 2017.

Security forces captured Narain Singh Chaura who served as the mastermind behind the 2004 Burail jailbreak in Chandigarh and had multiple outstanding terror-related warrants.
