Vadodara Car Crash: Who Is Rakshit Chaurasia? Law Student And Accused Denies Drunk Driving, Explains What Happened


A woman was killed on the spot, and four others were injured when a speeding car, driven by Rakshit Chaurasia, crashed into a two-wheeler in Vadodara, Gujarat.

Vadodara Road Accident: Woman Killed, Others Injured in Crash

A road accident in Vadodara, Gujarat, has made headlines after a video showed the accused, Rakshit Chaurasia, shouting “another round” after getting out of his car.

The Accident

In the early hours of Friday, a speeding car driven by 23-year-old Rakshit Chaurasia crashed into a two-wheeler, killing a woman on the spot and injuring four others. The crash happened around 12:30 am near Muktanand Cross Roads in the Karelibaug area of Vadodara.

After the accident, Rakshit Chaurasia was arrested. Deputy Commissioner of Police Panna Momaya confirmed the arrest.

Who Is Rakshit Chaurasia?

Rakshit Chaurasia is a law student from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, who was driving the car involved in the accident. Police suspect he might have been driving while drunk. They also confirmed that he has a valid driving license. Rakshit is studying law and stays in a PG accommodation in Vadodara. The woman who died in the accident was identified as Hemali Patel, who was riding her scooter when the crash happened.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Rakshit Chaurasia is studying at Maharaja Sayajirao University in Vadodara.

In an interview with a local news portal after the accident, Rakshit said that the airbags of the car he was driving went off when the vehicle hit the two-wheeler. He denied being drunk during the accident.

Police said the car involved in the accident is registered to Duan Technology, a company owned by Pranshu Chauhan’s father. Pranshu was with Rakshit Chaurasia during the incident and was arrested.

A video shows Pranshu blaming Chaurasia for the crash, while Chaurasia, acting confused, keeps shouting, “Another round?” Bystanders beat him and handed him over to the police. Chaurasia is also heard mentioning “Nikita” and chanting “Om Namah Shivaya.”

CCTV footage shows the speeding car hitting two scooters, knocking the riders down, and dragging them before stopping.

Police said the car was speeding and may have been driven by someone under the influence of alcohol. They will test Chaurasia for alcohol. He has a driving license.
