Madhugiri BJP President Hanumant Gowda allegedly abused sub-inspector Gadilinga Gowdar who slapped the leader. The BJP leader also slapped him back, after which the cop slapped him twice.
A video of the incident went viral on social media. The aides intervened to stop the leader and cop, who charged at each other in the video clip.
Later, the police took Gowda into custody while the leader alleged that the cop misbehaved and assaulted him.
BJP’s state unit chief BY Vijayendra hit out at the ruling Congress party. He posted the video on X and wrote, “ Since the Congress came to power in the state, cases of murder, extortion, robbery and rape have been continuously occurring. A situation has arisen where the safety of the common people cannot be provided and law and order has completely collapsed. Meanwhile, some low-level police officers are resorting to police brutality and even physically assaulting the common people and responsible citizens.”
