Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces neutralized an unidentified terrorist during a gunfight in the Zachaldar area of Handwara on Monday. The operation, which is still ongoing, has resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, along with other arms and ammunition from the encounter area.
According to a senior police officer who spoke to News24, the identity of the deceased terrorist is yet to be determined. The encounter began when a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir police and the Army launched a cordon and search operation based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.

As the forces closed in on the suspected hideout, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire that resulted in the death of one terrorist. The police officer confirmed that the operation is still active, with security forces diligently working to neutralize any remaining threats.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of the area and will continue our operations until all threats are addressed,” stated the police official.
