IMD Weather Update: Observations during the past 24 hours revealed that a heat wave prevailed at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal. Additionally, gusty winds blew at isolated locations over the northern states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Assam yesterday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts the maximum temperature to significantly increase across Northwest India by 5-7°C from 31st March to 2nd April.
Weather Forecast For Multiple States
Meanwhile, a trough and wind confluence looming over Central and adjoining parts of Maharashtra is expected to bring rainfall. The affected states, such as West Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, will witness thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30 to 60 kmph speed) along with light rain from 1st to 3rd April. The other impacted states are Vidharbha, likely to witness rain on 1st April, Madhya Pradesh on 2nd and 3rd April, and Maharashtra from 31st March to 3rd April.

Light Rain To Lash Gujarat, Maharashtra
According to IMD, light showers are expected to lash Gujarat starting 31st March till 3rd April. Southern states such as Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Karnataka will receive rainfall during 1st to 3rd April. The Met Department has also forecasted light rain accompanied by a hailstorm over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada on the 1st and 2nd, Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka on the 2nd and 3rd, and South Interior Karnataka on 3rd April.
Heavy Rain Warning For…
Notably, IMD has warned against heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Karnataka, and South Interior Karnataka on the 2nd and 3rd of April. Kerala & Mahe will get heavy rain from 2nd till 5th April. Due to an upper air cyclonic circulation, Arunachal Pradesh will continue to see rain accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds (speed 40-50 kmph) on 31st March.
Heat wave And Hot & Humid Weather Warning
– Heat wave conditions are very likely at isolated pockets of Saurashtra & Kutch today.
– Hot & humid weather conditions will prevail in isolated pockets of Assam until tomorrow. Tripura will witness similar conditions from 31st March to 3rd April, while Tamil Nadu Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Kerala & Mahe on 31st March.
