JD(U) Leader Mohammed Kasim Ansari Resigns Over Party’s Stand On Waqf Amendment Bill, Says ‘Lalan Singh Never Took Nitish Kumar’s Name, Only Mentioned Modi, Amit Shah’ News24 –
Senior JD(U) leader Mohammed Kasim Ansari resigned over party’s stand on Waqf Amendment Bill 2025.
Mohammed Kasim Ansari said, “Union Minister Lalan Singh spoke about ‘Pasmanda’ and listed out qualities of the Bill, but he never took the name of Nitish Kumar. He only mentioned Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Kiren Rijiju. He was spreading misconception among Muslims, especially Pasmanda Muslims, that the Bill was in their favour…This has hurt Muslims…So, I drafted my letter of resignation overnight and shared with the media as well as people concerned today.”

‘Good for ‘Vibhishan’ of JD(U)’
On Ansari’s resignation, Lok Sabha MP Pappu Yadav says, “What he said is correct. Look at Chandrababu Naidu. He participates in Iftar and Eid. You get votes from minorities, you speak of secularism. And whenever some issue comes up, on issues like ‘Batoge toh katoge’, you stay silent. I think it is good for ‘Vibhishan’ of JD(U), who are 90% with the BJP. But the decision is suicidal for the JD(U) as well as Chandrababu Naidu…I think this is not forgivable.”
