Intense Heatwave To Grip Delhi, Mumbai, And 4 More States – Full Forecast And Details Inside! News24 –

Delhi Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heatwave alerts for several northern and western states. Delhi, Gujarat, and Rajasthan will experience a heatwave in the coming days. IMD has warned people of very hot days and a harsh summer this year. Although several states have already started to feel the heat, IMD officials say it is going to get worse.

What IMD Has Hinted

Speaking to ANI, IMD Scientist Akhil Srivastava said that Rajasthan will also experience a severe heatwave over the next 4-5 days. “Heatwaves are being reported in Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch region, which are expected to continue for the next 5-7 days. Rajasthan will also face severe heatwave conditions over the next 4-5 days, for which an alert has been issued,” he said.

Punjab And Haryana To Experience Heatwave

According to Srivastava, Haryana and Punjab will also be experiencing the heatwave. “Delhi is currently witnessing temperatures 3 degrees above normal, hovering around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius. There is a possibility of heatwave-like conditions by April 7. We expect a western disturbance to affect the Western Himalayan region between April 8 and 10, possibly bringing thunderstorms, strong winds, and rainfall,” he added.

IMD forecast a hot summer with normal day and night temperatures are likely over most parts of the country along with heat wave days especially over northwest and east India during April to June.

What Is A Heatwave

A heatwave—commonly referred to as a period of abnormally high temperatures—is increasingly becoming a global concern as extreme weather events grow in frequency and intensity. Meteorologists typically define a heatwave as at least five consecutive days of unusually hot weather and measure it against the usual climate of a specific region and the average seasonal temperatures. More intense periods of extreme heat may pose growing threats to public health, agriculture, and infrastructure.
