Security Forces Recover Cache Of Arms And Ammunition Near LOC In Kupwara, Kashmir News24 –


In a major anti-terrorist operation, a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army successfully recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in the Kandi Forest belt of Kupwara district, located near the Line of Control (LOC). The operation, was part of a Search and Destroy Operation (SADO).

According to top police officials, the operation was executed by Kupwara police in collaboration with the Army’s 47 Rashtriya Rifles (RR). The recovered items include one machine gun, seven assorted hand grenades, 90 loose rounds of ammunition, a Chinese-made binocular, two solar mobile chargers, and foreign-origin clothing such as a sleeping bag. Additionally, a large quantity of medicines manufactured in Pakistan was also seized.

An FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of law, and an investigation is currently underway to ascertain the origins and intended use of the recovered cache of ammunition.

In light of this operation and the overall security situation, authorities have increased security measures across the region. This heightened vigilance comes as Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to arrive in Jammu for a three-day visit to the Union Territory. During his visit, Shah will hold a unified command meeting to review the security situation of Jammu and Kashmir and assess the progress of various developmental projects.

Shah is scheduled to arrive on Sunday evening and will head to Raj Bhawan Jammu. Following this, he will convene a meeting with BJP leaders and legislators at the party headquarters, which will also include Union Minister Jitendra Singh, party MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma and Ghulam Ali Khatana, as well as JK BJP unit chief Sat Sharma and general secretary (organization) Ashok Koul.
