Jammu and Kashmir: A 45-year-old man sustained injuries after some unknown gunmen shot at him near his residence in Kandi Khass area of Kupwara district in North Kashmir on Saturday. The civilian, identified as Ghulam Rasool Magray, is admitted to a hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. He received bullet injuries to his left wrist and abdomen. Meanwhile, the police have initiated an investigation into the incident to find out the gunmen involved in the firing.
Security forces, who are now on high alert, reached the Kandi Khass area after receiving information. This incident occurred in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 people’s lives, mostly tourists on April 22, 2025. The motive behind the attack, on the other hand, is yet to be ascertained and further details are awaited in the case.
The incident follows an encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Guddar forest area of Kulgam on Friday. Before that, on Thursday, security personnel arrested three terror associates linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) at a checkpoint in Bandipora. A Chinese pistol, several rounds, two magazines, and hand grenades were recovered from them.
