Leopard Dies During Treatment at Goa Zoo; Minister Seeks Suspension Of Deputy Conservator Of Forest News24 –
A leopard died in the early hours of Tuesday at a zoo after being brought from a village in South Goa. The leopard was trapped while roaming in the village. Goa forest minister Vishwajit Rane has asked the state government to suspend the Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF).
Minister was upset over leopard’s death
According to PTI, the minister was upset with the leopard’s death and asked the government to suspend the DCF for his dereliction of duty caused the unfortunate incident.
Cat died during treatment at zoo
The minister said that the leopard died at Bondla Zoo while receiving treatment. He hit out at the DCF, Navin Kumar, for his lackluster approach and said he should be sent to work in the field. The minister said he was forced to visit the Bondla Zoo and directed the chief conservator of the forest to assess the situation.
Leopard was roaming in the village
The leopard was roaming in Villain village under Sanguem Taluka. The minister said it was unfortunate that they could not save the leopard.
Rane asserted the state government’s priority is to protect the wildlife animals and NGOs have been roped in to perform the task.
Woman injured in leopard attack
On April 26, a woman was injured after being attacked by a leopard while working in a field with her husband in Jammu and Kashmir’s (J-K) Doda district, officials said. The incident occurred in Rajgarh area of the district.
The victim, Salima Begum, wife of Abdul Rasheed and a resident of Chuchatter, sustained multiple injuries, including superficial cuts, during the attack.
She was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Doda, where she received medical attention. According to Dr Salman, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at GMC, Begum is in stable condition.
