The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express was supposed to be launched on April 19, 2025, but the inauguration got postponed due to the cancellation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. The introduction of this train is being regarded as a breakthrough for both pilgrims and tourists. Typically, it takes around 6 to 7 hours to travel by road from the Katra-Vaishno Devi temple to Srinagar. However, the Vande Bharat Express will cut this travel time by 3 hours.
Why The Inauguration Got Delayed?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to inaugurate the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express on April 19, 2025. No official announcement about the tour cancellation has been made yet. According to sources, the visit and the inaugural ceremony were postponed because of the advisory issued by the weather department. According to Saqib Yusuf, who holds the position of Kashmir Chief Area Manager at Railway, the Prime Minister’s visit has been postponed indefinitely. Authorities have not provided a schedule announcement for the upcoming tour, although it is anticipated to begin shortly.
How Many Times Date Got Changed?
The inauguration dates for the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express have been rescheduled multiple times. Initially planned for January 2025, the launch was first postponed to February. According to media reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was expected to inaugurate the Srinagar-bound Vande Bharat Express on 17 February 2025. However, the date was again revised to 19 April, but the inauguration did not occur then either. As of now, a new date for the inauguration has not been announced.
