Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge questioned the security lapse and sought accountability in the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people on April 22.
‘Who was responsible for the security failure?’
While addressing Samvidhan Bachao Rally in Karnataka’s Hubballi, Kharge said, “Call a special session of Parliament on the Pahalgam incident. What were the lapses that led to the incident? Who was responsible for the security failure? Let there be a discussion on how the incident happened despite three layers of security. An all-party meeting was called, but the Prime Minister did not attend it. So, how could PM Modi go to Bihar and give a speech instead of coming to the meeting? We all should be united when it comes to the country’s integrity. For us, the country comes first, and everything else comes later.”

The Congress president emphasised the need to safeguard the Constitution.
RSS has been against reservation ‘since birth’
Earlier, on the issue of caste census, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge lashed out at BJP, saying that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been against reservation “since birth.”
“They shouldn’t make unnecessary comments on Jawaharlal Nehru or this and that. They are Jansangh, RSS, but by birth they are opposing this reservation. When such people are against reservation, they are saying congress against this. If we are against I shouldn’t have written a letter two years ago,” Kharge said.
Kharge accused the BJP of ‘creating confusion’
The Congress president said that despite his letter, the central government did not agree at that time, but now that the decision has been announced, they will fully support and cooperate with it. He accused the BJP of “creating confusion” in people’s mind, and urged that whatever promises have been made have to be fulfilled.
