According to media reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may lay the foundation stone for the film city near the Noida International Airport on May 19. However, Noida Police and officials from the Yamuna Authority have not received any official confirmation about this.
In the last six months, the foundation stone ceremony for the film city has been scheduled three times but has been postponed due to several reasons. Authority and production company officials are still awaiting clarity. Sources suggest that the ceremony could take place by the end of May.
Film City Project Overview
The upcoming film city is set to be developed in Sector-21 over an area of 1,000 acres. The project will be undertaken by film producer Boney Kapoor’s company, Bayview Projects, in collaboration with Bhutani Infra. In the first phase, 230 acres of land were allotted nearly 11 months ago. Although the land was officially handed over to the company by the authority on June 27, 2024, construction has yet to begin. The film city aims to facilitate film production at costs up to 50 percent lower than those incurred abroad.
Phase-Wise Development Of The Film City
Yamuna Authority reported that the Film City construction will occupy 1000 acres of land. Development of the first phase extends to 230 acres, whereas the second phase covers 670 acres. Boney Kapoor submitted to the Authority an approved layout plan for the first phase development in December last year. The Film City development project will be achieved through a joint partnership between the Bayview Project under Boney Kapoor and the Bhutani Group. Smooth development of industrial operations will occur across 155 acres, while commercial activities will be established in 75 acres of a total of 230 acres.
First Phase Of Film City
The first phase of development requires a budget of Rs 1000 crore, according to media reports. Business operations will be established across three distinctive areas during this period at the Film City. Homes for actors, educational facilities, training facilities, theme parks, shopping complexes and Disneyland, and 5 and 7-star accommodations will be built alongside actor stay hotels as part of the development plan.
