A 23-year-old female tutor and her 13-year-old student who had been missing since April 25 from Surat, were detained near the Gujarat-Rajasthan border in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police said the teacher had sexual relations with the minor on multiple occasions when they were gone. Additionally, authorities sought a DNA test after the teacher, who is five months pregnant, claimed the boy was the father.
The duo travelled to various cities, including Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi and Vrindavan, before being apprehended. CCTV footage of the teacher leaving the Surat apartment with the boy suggested that it was pre-planned.
DCP Bhagirath Gadhvi shared that the teacher sexually abused the minor at multiple locations. The Pune police registered a kidnapping case based on the complaint of the boy’s parents. The teacher has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abduction and the POCSO Act.
The teacher, a native of Mehsana, had been tutoring the boy for three years. The teacher lived on the third floor of a Surat apartment building while the boy and his family lived on the second floor.
