There are several important documents that individuals in India require for daily activities. These include PAN card, voter ID, Aadhaar card, ration card, and passport. For instance, the PAN card is important for tax filings and banking transactions, while a passport is mandatory for international travel. Without a passport, planning an international trip is not possible. If you haven’t obtained a passport yet, you can conveniently apply for one online from the comfort of your home, without needing to visit any office in person.
How To Apply For A Passport?
One can apply for a passport from home. For this, you need to visit the official passport service website- https://passportindia.gov.in.
After this, one needs to click on the ‘New User’ option and then complete the registration process by entering the details required like name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID.
Once you complete the registration then you can use the login ID and password to log in to the website.
The first step after login requires users to select ‘Apply for a fresh Passport’. The system requires users to fill in their name and address, together with other necessary details. And click on submit. The next step leads users to ‘Pay and Schedule Appointment’. Selecting this button enables users to set their appointment dates at nearby passport service centers.
Users can choose to pay their fees through net banking and debit card and credit card, and UPI options after scheduling their appointment. A normal passport application requires a payment between Rs 1500 up to maximum limit. The payment for a Tatkal passport requires additional funds beyond standard passport expenses. A receipt will appear after payment authorization, whereby users must download the document.
The scheduled appointment at the passport service center becomes your next step after completing the online entry. In this step, you must hold onto the documents you submitted during the application. The system will check all the data that you have entered for verification. This also includes police verification. The passport will reach your registered address after the verification process concludes.
