Haryana Police Head Constable Booked For Deceitful Marriage, Dowry Demands, And Physical Abuse News24 –
A head constable of the Haryana Police has been booked on charges of fraudulently marrying a government school teacher, demanding dowry, and treating her with physical violence, police said on Sunday. The complainant is a government assistant teacher from Bareilly district.
In 2023, she married Rahul, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, and a head constable at the Haryana Police Headquarters Gurugram, they said. After the marriage, she said her husband began demanding more dowry, would come home drunk, and hit her.
She also charged her brother-in-law and mother-in-law with mental and physical harassment against her. When the woman had been married for almost a year, she learned from the husband that he had previously been married four times, she alleged.
She said he was planning to marry another woman, and when she raised an objection, he assaulted her again and it led to a miscarriage. According to the FIR that was registered on May 1 at Kankarkheda Police Station, the accused forced her into a car, took her to Meerut, and dropped her off at her parent’s house.
The police booked head constable Rahul along with his two family members based on her complaint. Meerut City Superintendent of Police Ayush Vikram Singh told PTI, “This appears to be a matrimonial problem. Earlier both were counselled but that process failed. An FIR was lodged based on woman’s complaint.”
