Major Overhaul Of Pune Railway Station Announced, With Four New Platforms; Details Inside News24 –


The Union Railway Minister announced another project that will be beneficial for the residents of Pune. According to a press release, “Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today said that considering the historic and industrial significance of Pune city, the government has decided to completely transform Pune railway station. He added that under this major initiative world world-class facilities will be provided at the railway station, including four new platforms.”

Apart from this, the release mentions, “Vaishnaw said that the development plan for six railway stations – Pune, Hadapsar, Khadki, Shivajinagar, Uruli Kanchan, and Alandi – is in the final stage. He also stated that discussions have been held with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the introduction of a Pune–Nagpur Vande Bharat train. He added that trial runs are underway on new alignments for the Pune–Nashik railway corridor, which holds strategic importance due to the presence of a world-class testing laboratory at Khodad. Additionally, work on the third and fourth railway lines on the Pune–Lonavala route will be completed shortly.”

This will benefit the commuters and will boost the economy of the state. Not only economy but this will make the infrastructure of the state grow.

Pune-Bengaluru Expressway 

There are several expressway projects planned to improve connectivity in India. One such project is the Pune-Bengaluru Expressway. This expressway was planned to reduce the travel time from 18 hours to 6 hours. The cost of this project is Rs 40,000 crore. This will boost connectivity between Mumbai and Bengaluru. The length of this expressway is approximately 700 km. This is a greenfield project. It will feature two emergency airstrips, 55 flyovers, and 22 interchanges. Designed for high-speed travel, it will permit vehicles to reach speeds of up to 120 km/h. According to a report by Pune Pulse, the expressway is set to cut the travel distance between Pune and Bengaluru by roughly 95 kilometers, enabling journeys between the two IT cities in just 4 to 6 hours.
